Leonel Perez, BCS Director of Field Operations, recently visited the Crockett Early College High School’s, Construction Technology II classroom to discuss concrete orders, estimating and placement issues. Most of the students in their junior year had the opportunity to move beyond the textbook and learn about real world issues as they asked questions to a subject matter expert. As part of the class students will build a sidewalk and learn about all the issues related to the project from start to finish.

Additionally, Austin Community College has dual credit program with Crockett and students take several courses that transfer to ACC or Texas State. BCS Vice President of Safety and HR provided OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety training for students in a recent 8-week course. Students learned about OSHA Regulations and how to identify and correct jobsite safety violations. One of their projects was to take picture of jobsite safety violations and present them to the class. The Crockett students also learned about First Aid and CPR as part of the course.

BCS continues to seek out opportunities to support education and support the local community in the central Texas area.
