Lauren Concrete Trains BCS on Best Practices for Hot Weather Concreting

The Texas summer brings some unique challenges to commercial concrete companies including, heat injury prevention, insuring workers drink sufficient fluids and installing quality concrete in spite of the Texas heat.

Lauren Concrete recently sponsored a training event for BCS Project Managers and Superintendents to educate them at a Breakfast and Learn session regarding how to deal with the effects of hot weather on concrete. According to Lauren Concrete Technical Director Johnny Salinas, Hot Weather Concreting is:

“One or a combination of the following conditions that tend to impair the quality of freshly mixed or hardened concrete by accelerating the risk of moisture loss and rate of cement hydration or otherwise causing detrimental results:  high ambient temperatures (above 90 degrees), high concrete temperature, high wind speed and low humidity.”
