On May 14, the Alamo marked a major milestone in its $550 million redevelopment plan with the Topping Out Ceremony for the Texas Cavaliers Education Center. Set to open March 6, 2026, the world-class facility will welcome more than 250,000 students annually.
Community leaders, students, donors and elected officials gathered for the celebration which featured a ceremonial beam signing, remarks form key stakeholders and the raising of the final structural beam.
BCS Concrete Structures working under General Contractor G.W. Mitchell Construction had several members from its’ leadership team in attendance: Joel Garcia, Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Psencik, Chief Financial Officer, Todd Smith, Vice President of Safety, Project Managers Joseph Sanderson and Sam Ibrahim as well as General Superintendents, Leonel Perez and Miguel Castro. Each BCS leader and field employee took their turn signing the final structural beam before they were treated to lunch provided by The Alamo Trust, Inc.
The ceremony marked another key step towards the 2026 grad opening. The beam now raised atop the future Center, carries the signatures of workers, students, educators and civic leaders—each one a reminder of the shared commitment to preserving and teaching Texas history.
