In preparation for the upcoming Swinerton Office Project on East 7th Street slated to start on November 25, 2024, General Superintendent,Rafael Lopez’ and Superintendent Javier Grimaldo, went through a client specific orientation which included, drug testing, JHA training, client specific jobsite rules and First Aid/CPR training. Team members went through the HSI First Aid/CPR certification conducted by BCS Vice President of Safety and certified HSI trainer Todd C. Smith.
According to Smith, the Swinerton Project team learned about the basic skills needed to perform First Aid in the field and then received training in CPR for Adults, Children and Infants. The program includes videos and practical activities where workers practice using, universal precautions, splinting, compression bandages and practicing the current CPR rules (which constantly are changing based on the current medical recommendations0 were included in the training. Workers also take a written test. Workers not only gain skills that can be helpful in the case of jobsite injuries where they can care for their coworkers, but these skills transfer to their personal lives, where workers who feel confident in their training can use their skills to help anyone facing medical issues and assist them to the extent possible based on the training they received. (The Good Samaritan Law, allows anyone to assist an injured person who is unable to request medical assistance through the implied consent law.)
The training was performed in a single session for the first group deploying in November. The rodbusters and finished schedule to work on this project in December will receive the same training prior to mobilization for this project.
