OSHA came out with its annual top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety standards for the fiscal year of 2022. This list is to identify the construction industry’s safety violations and accidents in an attempt to create more awareness for proper safety measures, a concept that BCS’s employees have worked to improve. The full The Top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety standards are:
- Fall Protection – General
- Hazard Communication
- Respiratory Protection
- Ladders
- Scaffolding
- Lockout/Tagout
- Powered Industrial Trucks
- Fall Protection – Training Requirements
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Eye and Face Protection
- Machine Guarding
OSHA revealed that the top 3 standard violations were Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, and Respiratory Protection, respectively.
While a simple list at first sight, the OSHA top 10 list is vital for safety in the construction industry. That’s because although workplace injuries are common, they also provide a high risk for companies’ bottom line with the chance for lower productivity and higher medical and employee compensation expenses.
In order to avoid these risks and, more importantly, protect workers on site, the OSHA list helps commercial concrete contractors better identify the problems and create changes to keep the company moving forward.
Through BCS’ annual events, such as their annual BCS Safety Rodeo Training Event and instructional classes, BCS continues to show a deep commitment to safety education for their workers.
