The White House is coming to BCS!

BCS is proud to announce that its very own Vice President of Safety, Todd C. Smith, has been appointed to the White House Advisory Committee for Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH). This committee consists of nine committee members who serve two-year terms and advise the Secretary of Labor in the formation of construction safety and health standards (OSHA). Smith is one of three employer representatives on the committee. This illustrious honor bestowed upon Todd stems from years of dedication and an unwavering commitment to keeping workers safe on the jobsite.

Todd C. Smith entered construction safety in 2005 after serving as the 82nd Airborne Divisions’, 313th Military Intelligence Battalion’s Training Manager.  Todd spent 15 years as a Safety Director for Slater Painting, a commercial painting company in Austin, Texas.   In June 2020, Todd became Vice President of Safety and HR for BCS Concrete Structures. Todd has served as Chairman of the ABC OSHA Partnership Committee, Chairman of the American Society of Safety Professionals, Central Texas Construction Practice Specialty and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Building Construction Technology program for the past 9 years at the Austin Community College as well as a bilingual OSHA Outreach trainer for the past 13 years.  Todd is also on the Amerisure Surebuilt captive’s New Business and Risk Management committees.  This year BCS won the 2025 Top Performer in Safety Award from the captive which has more than 30 members from all over the US.

Todd is the author of Symbiotic Safety and Creating Symbiotic Safety and has presented at local, regional and national safety conferences including the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) National Conference in Chicago.  

This honor could not have been given to a more deserving individual. The pride he takes in his work and the effort he has put into building a culture of safety is evident every time he pulls on his boots.
