Recently, the BCS Concrete Structures team and White Construction Company have brought to fruition a highly-anticipated renovation and art installation endeavor at the Blanton Museum, situated on the grounds of The University of Texas campus.
The Blanton Museum, an integral part of the University of Texas, hosts an amazing collection of over 21,000 art pieces. Upholding a mission to inspire and captivate through visual art, the museum orchestrates an array of itinerant exhibitions, educational initiatives, and public gatherings.
With so much culture and art, the University of Texas design team was ready for recent refurbishment venture which was led by BCS who served as the commercial concrete specialist to elevated this cultural epicenter to new heights and cementing its status as a vital resource for Austin’s community.
And although navigating the intricate terrain of a bustling college campus posed a slight challenge for us. Under the guidance of Miguel Castro, BCS Superintendent, Leonel Perez, BCS General Superintendent, and Paul Kaskie, WCC Superintendent, the team was able to help bring UT Blanton’s vision to life.
The scope of the construction endeavor encompassed an extensive civil renovations, entailing the incorporation of cast-in-place walls, pathways, bridges, stages, and decks. Internal enhancements spanned across both the Smith and Michner buildings. Boasting five distinct art installations, the project demanded a discerning eye for detail, a challenge executed by BCS Superintendent Miguel Castro.
With commitment to the project’s success, we closely collaborated with the UT design team and three accomplished artists in a dynamic, creative process. The result was a remarkable transformative environment, featuring architectural radial walls, a towering 20-foot-high model of flower petals, and newly updated lighting installations.
