A monumental milestone has been reached at BCS Concrete Structures LLC. This month, we proudly celebrate the graduation of our fourth Emerging Leaders Program cohort. Over the past 12 months, this dedicated group stepped outside their comfort zones to prepare for their future in commercial concrete.

Leadership is the ultimate foundation of our structural success. The Emerging Leaders Program was designed to identify high-potential team members and introduce them to some of the critical skills needed to help guide our company forward as young field leaders. While most become Superintendents, other program graduates have included, Site Safety Managers, Shop managers and Surveyors.
Throughout the year-long curriculum, participants balanced their daily project demands with rigorous professional development. They were exposed to several core areas:
- Strategic Operations: Aligning project manager’s expectations with field execution.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding project margins, asset management, and labor cost forecasting as well learned to read plans.
- Advanced Communication: Learned about conflict resolution, cross-departmental collaboration and building relationships with our vendor partners.
- Professionalism: GC Superintendents presented their expectations for BCS field leaders and gave examples of qualities that help build a successful GC/Subcontractor relationship.
- Safety Leadership: Championing our best-in-class culture from the executive level down with a review of company safety policies and highest risk activities.
Real-World Impact
This program was not just about classroom learning, graduates formed cross-functional teams to tackle current field challenges. They developed innovative solutions for optimizing our supply chain, reducing material waste on job sites, and improving field-to-office communication as part of the best ideas to improve BCS competition. Participants also visited a Tex Mix batch plant and had a Q&A session with the plant manager. Many of these strategies are already being implemented through our active commercial projects.

“Seeing the growth in these individuals over the past year has been incredible,” says our Director of Field Operations, said Leonel Perez. Participants had to complete a final exam over the program material and complete a final interview discussing some key issues about what they learned and how they see their future at BCS.
